WoW Forever Name Rules & Allowed Characters
World of Warcraft: Forever uses a new two-name system. Here are the rules your first and last name have to follow, so your choice doesn't get rejected on reservation day.
The rules at a glance
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Two names | Every character needs a first name and a last name. |
| Length | Each name is 2–12 characters. |
| Characters | Letters only. Accented letters (á, é, ö, å, ñ…) are allowed. No numbers, spaces, apostrophes or hyphens. |
| Repeats | The same character can't appear three times in a row ("Aaaron" is out). |
| Uniqueness | The full First + Last combination must be unique within your region, across all rulesets. Two players can share a first name or a last name, but not both. |
| Restricted words | Offensive words, trademarks, titles (e.g. "King", "Sergeant") and names impersonating Blizzard are blocked. Both names are checked together, so splitting a banned word across them won't work. |
| RP ruleset | Names must be believable in-world: no puns. |
| Hiding your last name | You can hide "My Secondary Name" in Options › Nameplates; it still shows in chat. |
| Name changes | No paid name change service is currently offered in Forever. |
